Saw poster
1. What genre is the film?
Horror
2. Which genre conventions are referred to?
Someone on the poster is going to die, which happens alot in horror films.
3. Which conventions of the form are used?
The same logo is there from all saw films and it has its slogan, and it has the names of the directors in small writing so you can barely read it.
4. Describe the miss-en-scene in detail including location, lighting, costume, make-up.
The costume is a stone head. And its very clear lighting.
5. What symbols are used in the poster? Do you need audience foreknowledge to decode the symbols?
It has the saw logo with the blood red colour.
6. What are the main figures/objects/background of the poster? Are they represented photographically? There is a face getting smashed/blown up.
7. How does the layout of the poster affect its message?
It has the picture in the centre with the name of the movie near the bottom.
8. Describe why the designer has used the particular typeface.
Because its a horror movie so they made it look like blood is dripping from the title.

They made it look like its in slow motion.

Visual because its a horror movie and its showing someone's head being smashed to show the viewer what sort off movie it is.
11. Who do you think is the intended audience for the poster? Why?
People that like saw movies or horror movies.
12. Given that all movie poster's have the same purpose - to get audiences to go see a movie - what persuasive techniques does the poster use?
They say its in mind blowing 3D and they have a big picture of someone's head getting smashed right in front of you, that makes you want to watch it.

It says its in 3D with a stone head getting smashed.

No

Its in 3D.
